The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has decided not to hold the Eurovision music contest in 2023 in Ukraine, despite the victory of the Ukrainian group "Kalush Orchestra's".
The organizers intend to contact Great Britain to arrange for the competition to be held there, as the representative of this country took second place in the competition.
"The EBU would like to thank the UA.Society for their sincere cooperation and commitment to studying all scenarios in the weeks following Kalush Orchestra's victory on May 14 in Turin and share their sadness and disappointment that next year's competition cannot be held in Ukraine due to the war .
As a result of this decision, in accordance with the rules and to ensure the continuity of the event, the EBU will now enter into negotiations with this year's runner-up Great Britain about potentially hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in the United Kingdom.
We will remind that two Eurovision contests have already been held in Ukraine - after the victory of Ruslana (2005) and after the victory of Jamala in 2017.
