The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine explained what exactly can be a useful increase in the electricity tariff. The year 2023 was taken as an example, when as a result of raising the price for the population, it was possible to balance the energy system and carry out the necessary repairs.
Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk said this on the air of the telethon. According to him, the tariff increase made it possible, in particular, to pass the entire heating season.
"We would like to note that the slight increase in the tariff that took place in 2023 added 3 GW to the system, which made it possible to safely pass the heating season," — he said.
Among the reasons that made it possible to save such a volume of electricity, the deputy minister named not only the factor that the population began to use electricity sparingly due to the increase in cost.
"This is a set of actions. First of all, it was possible to economically balance the subjects of the electric energy market, due to which they had the financial capacity to carry out measures for reconstruction, preparation for the heating season, to carry out a proper repair campaign, in particular, to repair damaged equipment from previous shelling. Thus, the amount of equipment that was ready for the heating season was an additional 3 GW, which made it possible to balance the system between supply and demand." added Kolisnyk.

According to experts, the goal of the occupiers is not just to damage the Ukrainian energy system, but to cause a large-scale failure in its work.
