In the Zhytomyr region, the "red" level of epidemic danger will be canceled from May 5. Such a decision was made at an extraordinary meeting of the State Commission on Technological and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations.
According to Viktor Lyashko, Deputy Minister of Health - Chief State Sanitary Doctor, the epidemic situation has improved significantly in the region over the past month.
"The weekly number of new cases of COVID-19 decreased by three times in a month. Occupancy of beds with oxygen is less than the target indicator and amounts to 39%. The hospitalization rate is less than 60 people per 100 and is 59 per 100 of the population. The rate of detection of new cases within seven days is less than 16%," said Lyashko.
He added that today there are all prerequisites for Zhytomyr Oblast to leave the "red" zone. However, since the epidemic threshold for influenza and ARVI is still observed to be exceeded by 5%, the "orange" level of epidemic danger will apply in the region.
