In three regions, the epidemic threshold was exceeded due to ARVI, influenza and COVID-19, — Ministry of Health

Now Ukraine is in the middle of an epidemic season with influenza and SARS

In three regions — Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Chernivtsi — the epidemic threshold has been exceeded due to an increase in cases of ARVI, influenza, and COVID-19. About this reports the Ministry of Health.

"According to weekly monitoring data, as of January 31, a high level of exceeding the epidemic threshold was registered in Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi and Chernivtsi regions. In five oblasts — Vinnytsia, Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil and Chernihiv — the average level. In other regions, there is a non-epidemic level," — informed the Ministry of Health.

It is noted that, in general, for the previous week, from January 22 to 28, for SARS, influenza and COVID-19:

— 185 Ukrainians fell ill, of which 402 were children under the age of 96.
— 19 patients were diagnosed with COVID-3 during the week.
— 6 people were hospitalized, of which 120 were children.

Doctors reported 34 deaths among patients with coronavirus infection and eight among patients with influenza. According to the Ministry of Health, all the deceased did not have preventive vaccinations against influenza and were not vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor Ihor Kuzin, Ukraine is currently in the middle of the epidemic season of influenza and SARS.

"Currently, due to the circulation of influenza viruses in 22 regions of the country, there is an increase in the incidence of SARS, in particular among children. Taking into account the weekly monitoring data, it is expected that from January to April, the influenza virus will prevail over the coronavirus infection," — noted Cousin.

He said that according to the symptoms, flu begins suddenly with a sharp rise in temperature, and respiratory symptoms - cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat - are added later. While COVID-19 begins, on the contrary, with respiratory symptoms.

Kuzin added that at the first signs of the disease, it is important to consult a doctor as soon as possible in order to start effective treatment and avoid complications of the disease.

As noted by the Ministry of Health, in case of a complication of the epidemic situation in one or another community, in medical, educational institutions, trade, public catering, enterprises, transport, regional commissions of TEB and NS can locally implement measures aimed at reducing the risk and spread of the epidemic.

Anti-epidemic measures may include:

— introduction of the mask mode,
— social distancing,
compliance with personal hygiene requirements,
— temperature regime,
— cancellation of mass measures to normalize the situation.

"Annual vaccination is the most effective way to prevent influenza, vaccination against influenza can be carried out not only at the beginning, but also throughout the entire epidemic season. In order to avoid a severe course of influenza, patients from the risk group are recommended to contact their family doctors or vaccination points in medical institutions and find out about the possibility of free vaccination. 12 doses of flu vaccine for free vaccinations, in particular for groups at risk of a severe course of the disease, have been distributed to the regions," — the Ministry of Health emphasized.
