Railway stations throughout Ukraine will be given over to shopping centers

Such a decision was made by "Ukrzaliznytsia".

JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" begins the transfer of long-term lease of shopping areas of railway stations of Ukraine. During this summer, the company plans to lease more than 41,5 square meters through the "Prozzoro.Prodazhi" system. square meters of 24 stations. This was stated by acting Ivan Yuryk, chairman of the board of UZ, reports the press service of the company.

According to Yuryk, UZ plans to receive at least 8,4 million UAH per month, and more than 100 million UAH per hour, from leasing the specified premises.

"Most of these sites have not brought us any profit for years. We change this situation, because the zones allocated for trade must bring income to the company, and not losses for their maintenance. However, in the long-term perspective, we want to prepare 11 stations for the concession," he said.

The transfer of the shopping areas of the stations will take place through electronic auctions in the "Prozzoro.Prodazhi" system.

In total, by the end of the summer, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to lease the commercial areas of the following stations: Odessa-Glavnaya, Kyiv-Passazhyrsky, Kazatyn, Zaporozhye-1, Dnipro-Glavny, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, Belaya-Tserkov, Poltava, Ternopil, Rivne, Fastov, Vinnytsia, T.G. Shevchenko, Chop, Uzhhorod, Chernivtsi, Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Nikolaev, Lviv, Zhmerinka, Kherson and Kharkiv.

"Leasing commercial facilities of railway stations for a period of at least 3 years will allow us to attract reliable tenants. Working under long-term contracts, they will be interested in investing in these rental properties, so passengers will be able to receive the highest quality services at the stations," Yuryk said.

Let us remind you that in January of this year, the previous head of Ukrzaliznytsia, Vladimir Zhmak, explained this decision as follows:

"For passengers and for Ukrzaliznytsia, railway tracks, a waiting room and two ticket sales offices are needed at the station. Everything else will be a shopping center. We want to make stations on the European model, when up to 60% of station visitors are not passengers, but come there, as in a shopping center," Zhmak summarized.
