The Union of European Football Associations UEFA demanded that the Ukrainian national football team remove the inscription "Glory to Heroes" from their uniforms for the European Championship.
"After a deep analysis of the situation, this slogan, chanted during the events on the Maidan in 2014, is clearly political in nature and therefore should be removed due to competition from UEFA," the message says.
At the same time, UEFA noted that the map on the players' uniforms, which depicts Crimea as an integral part of the country, does not violate the rules, since the UN recognizes the relevant borders of Ukraine.
The slogan "Glory to Ukraine" will also remain on the equipment, as it can be considered non-political in itself.
Earlier, Russian officials demanded that UEFA ban the uniform of the Ukrainian national team due to the image of Crimea and political slogans on it.
