On the morning of September 10, the coast of Odessa was cleared of the shipwreck of the Delphi tanker almost an hour ago on the Dolphin beach. Throughout the night, intense work went on to remove the tanker to the depths with its further towing to the port of Chernomorsk, where a special platform is already ready.
Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov congratulated the citizens on today's event: "We removed this disgrace from the beach." And he also listed the people without whom the current liberation of the Odessa coast from the heap of scrap metal dangerous for the ecology of the Odessa Bay. "I want to say a huge human thank you to all those specialists who in the shortest possible time organized and carried out this super-complicated, I would even say neurosurgical operation," noted Gennady Trukhanov.
Let us remind you that earlier the sunken ship was unsuccessfully tried to be raised several times: the work was supervised by the central and regional departments. On July 27, more than six months later, the accident was classified by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine as a man-made emergency at the local level. A city operational headquarters was created in Odessa, and preparatory work began.
Today's work was carried out by the Brooklyn Kyiv company, the Transship group of companies, with the assistance of city services and rescuers. "I am glad that we still have high-level specialists in the marine industry. I hope that the current situation will force the authorities to think seriously about the training of personnel," the mayor of Odessa emphasized.
