About a hundred people gathered to watch the explosion. Dismantling was successful. Before that, the utility workers blocked traffic on Yevheniya Kotlyara Street.
The explosion thundered at 10 a.m. - the building was falling towards the Lokomotiv sports complex. A column of dust rose.
According to Valery Arutyunov, chairman of the board of "Zhilstroy-1", which will develop the territory, the elevator "does not decorate the city."
"The elevator is located in the center of the city and, frankly speaking, does not decorate our city. We have been dealing with the demolition and explosion of this particular building for a month," he said.
According to him, this was not the last blast.
"There is a smaller building behind. We blew up a large building, and we will prepare there and blow it up again within a month," he added.
In the future, a residential neighborhood is planned to be built on this site.
