On the night of April 11, the Russians launched another massive attack on Ukraine. The invaders used 42 missiles of various types and 40 drones. Some of the targets were shot down by anti-aircraft defense, but there were hits.
Russia attacked energy facilities in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, and Zaporizhzhia regions. According to DTEK, two thermal power plants in Ukraine were attacked at once.
Strike on the Trypil TPP
Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Centernergo PJSC Andrii Hota reported that the Trypil TPP was completely destroyed as a result of a missile attack.
"The scale of destruction is terrible. It cannot be valued with money. This is the biggest challenge for us in the entire history of the company. But I am convinced that we will cope with him" - he said.
Oleksandr Turenko, the mayor of Ukrainka called local residents tightly close the windows in their homes due to a powerful fire. He also asked to stock up on water and charge all electrical devices.
"Centrenergo" on its Facebook page confirmed the information about the destruction of the Trypil station. It is noted that as a result of the missile strike, a large-scale fire occurred in the turbine shop. Currently, work on fire localization is ongoing at the enterprise.
Fortunately, the station employees who were on shift that night survived. However, Tsentrenergo lost 100% of its generation, as the Zmiyiv TPP in the Kharkiv region (March 22, 2024) and the Vuglegir TPP in the Donetsk region (July 25, 2022) were also destroyed.
Ukrenergo reported for its part, that as a result of the attack of the occupiers, substations and generation facilities were damaged in the Odesa, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Lviv and Kyiv regions. Emergency blackouts have been introduced in Kharkiv Oblast.
The station is located 45 kilometers from Kyiv, near the historical Ukrainian settlement of Trypillya, from where it takes its name.
Power-generating enterprises with a total capacity of 3200 MW are located on the territory of Trypilska TPP, of which the installed capacity of Trypilska TPP is about 57%
Trypil TPP is the most powerful power plant in the Kyiv region and, in general, one of the most powerful in Ukraine. This station was the largest supplier of electricity in Kyiv, Cherkassk and Zhytomyr regions. The enterprise covers an area of 281,3 hectares.
