The Security Service of Ukraine terminated the activities of a group that wanted to establish fake "people's councils" and "power structures" in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The perpetrators are supporters of the "restoration of the USSR" who wanted to encroach on the constitutional structure of Ukraine. This was reported in the SBU press center.
According to the intelligence service, a local resident with "work experience" in the process of creating a pseudo-authoritarian organization attracted almost 100 people to participate in anti-state activities. All this is under the coordination of the Russian public organization "Supreme Council of the USSR".
The so-called "Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR" handed out "certificates on USSR citizenship" to the participants of the group. She also campaigned among citizens with an appeal to participate in the "pseudo-elections" of new state bodies.
The operatives established that members of an unregistered cell of the Russian "International Union of Soviet Officers" took part in the formation of the "power bloc" of fake bodies in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
During searches of the place of residence of the organizer and active members of the group, law enforcement officers found:
- documentation of fake "people's councils";
- computer equipment, which the perpetrators used to create the so-called "certificates of USSR citizenship";
- lists of group members;
- correspondence with curators from the Russian Federation.
Criminal proceedings are open under part 2 of article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Production, distribution of communist and Nazi symbols and propaganda of communist and national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes). Investigative actions are ongoing.
