The visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the United States of America, which was scheduled for May 9, has been canceled. This is reported by the Turkish publication OdaTV.
During the visit, Erdogan was supposed to meet US President Joe Biden at the White House for the first time. The parties planned to discuss a number of important issues, including:
- fight against terrorism;
- the situation in the Gaza Strip;
- defense projects and economic relations between countries.
What caused the cancellation
According to the publication, the cancellation of the visit was the approval of US aid to Israel in the amount of 26 billion dollars.
It should be added that there is currently no official information regarding the cancellation of the visit. There are also publications that claim that Turkey postponed the visit due to changes in Erdoğan's schedule. Currently, new dates are allegedly being agreed upon.
