Such restrictions are of a temporary nature

Hungary follows Poland announced that it prohibits the importation of Ukrainian grain and oilseeds, as well as a number of other agricultural products, into the country. Such restrictions are temporary - until June 30, 2023.

This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of the country, Istvan Nagy, reports 24.hu..

"The head of the ministry explained that the continuation of the current market processes will cause such serious damage to Hungarian agriculture that extraordinary measures must be taken to stop them. With production practices that are no longer allowed in the European Union and, as a result, have extremely low production costs, Ukrainian agriculture, with full duty-free and free trade opportunities, has begun to export to the European market, in addition to grain and oilseeds, large quantities of poultry , eggs and honey, which made it impossible for domestic and Central European farmers to sell," the newspaper writes.

Nagy emphasized that the restriction of imports to Hungary is temporary and will last until June 30, 2023. This time should be enough for the EU to take significant and long-term measures, review the full duty-free nature of Ukrainian goods and the actions of the "corridors of solidarity" along which Ukrainian agricultural products are imported.

"Agricultural entities expect fair market conditions for European agriculture from the European Union," the Hungarian government official noted.
