Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán supported Trump after the meeting in Florida, — Reuters

Orbán has long been at odds with his fellow EU members on a number of issues

Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán met with the candidate for the presidency of the United States of America, Donald Trump. He called on the Republican to "come back and bring peace." It is reported Reuters.

During the meeting, Orban and Trump discussed "a wide range of issues concerning Hungary and the United States, including the paramount importance of strong and secure borders to protect each nation's sovereignty".

According to the Prime Minister of Hungary, only Trump's return to the White House can bring peace to Ukraine.

"We need leaders in the world who are respected and who can bring peace. He is one of them! Come back and bring us peace, Mr. President!", — posted Orban in his post on the Twitter account.

Orbán has long been at odds with his fellow European Union members on a number of issues, including refusing to send weapons to Ukraine and maintaining economic ties with Moscow after Russian troops invade Ukraine in 2022.

According to him, there would be no war in Ukraine now if Trump had been re-elected in 2020.

Orbán has regularly clashed with the EU over his anti-immigration campaigns and attempts to tighten state control over the judiciary, non-governmental organizations and the media, which critics say has undermined Hungary's democracy.
