In Cuba, for the first time in 60 years, small and medium-sized private enterprises were allowed

For the first time after the 1959 revolution, the Cuban authorities officially allowed the country's residents to open small and medium-sized private enterprises.

This happened after the largest mass anti-government protests that rocked Cuba in July. The protests were caused by the difficult economic situation in the country.

From now on, according to the new rules, it is possible to create private enterprises with up to one hundred employees. This decision creates a legal basis for many Cubans already working in the private sector and allows them to legally open private enterprises in a wide variety of economic sectors.

Cuban business development expert Oniel Diaz told France Press that the new bill represents a turning point that many Cubans have been eagerly waiting for for years.

"For the Cuban economy, this is a giant step that will have consequences in the medium and long term," he emphasized.
