In Odessa, an elevator carrying two passengers broke off from the fifth floor. The incident occurred in one of the multi-story buildings on Vladimir Vysotsky Street, сообщает press service of the regional police.
Inside the cabin were a man and a woman. They were evacuated. Passengers are not injured.
"Preliminarily, it was established that when moving to the first floor in the elevator cabin, emergency braking worked and she got stuck between the fourth and third floors," the police said in a statement.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 1 of Art. 275 (Violation of rules related to safe use of industrial production or safe use of built and constructed) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigations are ongoing.
Earlier it was reported about the tragedy in Kyiv. The elevator broke down there. A man died. According to preliminary information, repair work was carried out in the elevator shaft. Only the rescuers were able to get the body of the deceased.
Before that, it became known that in Poland, an elevator with Ukrainians broke down from the 15th floor. Due to a technical malfunction, the elevator fell from a height of 40 meters when two Ukrainians were painting the elevator shaft on top of it.
