Less than 8% of Odessa beaches — 6 out of 79 — meet sanitary standards and received sanitary passports this year. This was announced by the director of the city council's ecology and recreation zone development department, Alexander Tyshchenko, at a meeting in the city hall, Ukrinform reports.
"Passports on readiness to provide services to vacationers on 65 leased plots of the territory of the municipal enterprise "Poberezhye Odessa" were handed over to the Department of Ecology three weeks ago. Specialists went to these beaches to check their readiness for the holiday season, including requirements for water supply, water drainage, the existence of concluded agreements on the removal of solid waste from the beaches, etc. And they made sure that in the third decade of May this was not done on 59 beaches. Tyshchenko noted.
According to him, as of June 14, the majority of tenants did not fulfill their promises, so they did not sign the beach passports. Tyschenko added that in the coming days, the department's specialists will also re-inspect the readiness of communal beaches for the season, and only if the sanitary requirements are met, the passport will be signed.
Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov noted that private tenants had enough time to fulfill sanitary requirements. And if the deficiencies are not eliminated within the next few days, the relevant departments and administrations will not give permission to operate the rented beaches.
Let us remind you that there are 79 official beaches in Odessa, 65 of which have been leased by the city council.
