Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed an international criminal group that sold a fake "vaccine" against the coronavirus. This was reported in the SBU press center.
The attackers widely advertised their services and claimed that they could supply the vaccine from the American company Pfizer. In fact, they were engaged in fraud and had nothing to do with the original production.
Employees of the special service established that the group included citizens of Ukraine, Russia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. Taking advantage of the news that the American company Pfizer has officially started deliveries to Ukraine, the fraudsters decided to make money on it.
They placed an advertisement on the Internet about the functioning of enterprises registered in Ukraine, which allegedly have the opportunity to supply the vaccine from Pfizer.
In order to convince clients about the availability of the vaccine, members of the criminal group provided potential buyers with fake letters of guarantee from Ukrainian banks. Among other things, there were specified accounts for the transfer of funds that are open to citizens of Ukraine. The cost of one fake "vaccine" was 250 dollars.
The Security Service of Ukraine established that the perpetrators worked primarily for clients from Russia and India - that is where their advertising campaign was targeted. Law enforcement officials recorded facts of receiving advance payments from "clients" in the amount of thousands of US dollars.
