Cyber police operatives exposed two criminals who were selling non-existent goods for the military on the Internet. The extras were declared suspicious. They face up to 5 years behind bars. About this reports the Cyber police of Ukraine.
The cyber police of Odesa together with the investigators of the investigative department of the General Prosecutor's Office in the Odesa region, under the procedural guidance of the Odesa regional prosecutor's office, exposed two people who embezzled citizens' funds under the pretext of selling quadcopters and driving cars from abroad for the needs of defenders of Ukraine.
The relevant announcements were posted on the online trading platform popular in Ukraine.
One of the suspects sought out bank cards of drops and sold them to his accomplice for cryptocurrency equivalent to $200. The latter provided the victims with the details of purchased cards to make a subscription for non-existent goods or transport cars.
For the purpose of the conspiracy, the illegally obtained money was transferred to cryptocurrency wallets controlled by the participants, and only after that - to their bank accounts.
The police conducted seven searches at the places of residence and registration of the persons involved. Computer equipment, smartphones, bank and SIM cards, as well as almost 40 thousand hryvnias were seized. A petition was sent to the court to seize the confiscated funds.
Two participants of the criminal scheme were detained on the basis of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The investigators informed the defendants of the suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 190 (Fraud), and one of them - under Part 2 of Art. 209 (Legalization (laundering) of property obtained through criminal means) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The latter was remanded in custody with the right to post bail in the amount of 19 million hryvnias. The request to place his accomplice in custody has been sent to the court for consideration.
