Police officers of the Kharkiv Region promptly detained two attackers who opened fire on the Konstantinovka-Kyiv passenger train. This was reported in the communication department of the police of Kharkiv region.
To detain offenders, law enforcement officers launched a special police operation "Thunder". As a result of the incident, none of the citizens were injured.
At around two o'clock in the morning on April 6, the police received a report that unknown persons had shot into the compartment of the train.
The leadership of the regional police headquarters, the investigative and operational group, experts, explosives technicians, and a mobile forensic laboratory urgently arrived at the scene of the accident.
The police found out that two men had locked themselves in the compartment of the train and were shooting with firearms. The scene of the accident was immediately blocked, and the passengers were evacuated. The head of the Kharkiv police, Andrey Rubel, decided to involve the KORD special forces in the operation. The offenders barricaded themselves in the compartment and threatened the police to open fire to defeat them in the event of an assault.
As a result of the clear and coordinated actions of the special forces, the intruders were detained within a few minutes. They turned out to be two employees of the Gosspetssvyaz field service, who were on their way to Kyiv.
Currently, one of them, a 30-year-old man, is detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators are currently working with the second offender. On the fact of the incident, a criminal proceeding was opened under part 4 of article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Hooliganism) and part 1 of article 345 (Threat or violence against an employee of a law enforcement agency). For the commission of this crime, a penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to seven years is provided.
