The president's website calls for the dismissal of the head of NABU

A petition has appeared on the website of the Office of the President asking for the dismissal of Artem Sytnyk, head of NABU

A petition has appeared on the website of the Office of the President asking for the dismissal of Artem Sytnyk, head of NABU.

The document states that for a long time NABU has been engaged not in the fight against corruption, but in its own PR. And there is a meager economic effect from the activity of this body under the leadership of Sytnyk.

"On August 17 of this year, during a briefing, Artem Sytnyk stated that the economic effect of NABU's work in the first half of 2020 amounted to more than UAH 1,5 billion. However, the Ministry of Finance denies this - in fact, the budget received hundreds of times less, which is also confirmed by the data of the State Treasury," the message says.

NABU has discredited itself with numerous scandals, low efficiency and political involvement, the petition says. Along with this, a number of serious criminal charges have been brought against the NABU director, the authors of the document note. So, in particular, Sytnyk is accused of selling a plot of land in occupied Sevastopol under Russian laws for $40, which is not reflected in the NABU director's declaration.

"This is confirmed by extracts from Russian registers, a sales contract and other documents. According to these facts, the Criminal Investigation Department has opened criminal proceedings," the message says.

In addition, Sytnyk was recognized as a corrupt person by a court decision and entered into the official register of corrupt persons of the National People's Committee. And the facts of Sytnyk's influence on the adoption of decisions by economic courts in the interests of his relatives and friends have been proven by the investigation, the authors of the petition write, referring to media reports.

"Investigators also came to the conclusion that, while still a lawyer, he prepared drafts of court decisions, which were then announced verbatim in court sessions. He also prepared and sent by e-mail drafts of procedural documents of investigators and prosecutors, which were then signed by them," the document says.

Also, the authors of the petition draw the attention of the President to the Ukrainian society's assessment of Sytnyk's activities.

"The activity of Artem Sytnyk as director of NABU leveled the huge credit of trust that the society gave to the anti-corruption bodies of Ukraine, and nepotism and circular guaranty flourishes in NABU itself," the document says.

The above devalues and destroys the efforts of the authorities and civil society in overcoming corruption in Ukraine, write the authors of the petition, asking the President to dismiss Sytnyk from the post of NABU director.

It is worth noting that this is not the first petition calling for the dismissal of Sytnyk. Earlier, she gained the necessary 25 votes to be considered by the president. But the counter on the site stopped at 000 votes.
