Zelensky signed laws that tighten responsibility for violating fire and man-made safety requirements

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed the Law No. 1366-IX "On Amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code of Ukraine on Strengthening Liability for Violation of Fire and Technological Safety Requirements", which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on March 30. This was reported in the Office of the President.

In order to protect the lives of people and their property, national wealth and the environment, the parliament adopted, and the head of state signed, a law that increases responsibility for violating fire and man-made safety requirements.

According to the document, such violations will now be punished with a fine in the amount of 100 to 300 of the tax-free minimum income of citizens.

In addition, for violations of fire and man-made safety requirements, which caused accidents and caused harm to people's health or damaged property, criminal liability is provided in the form of a fine in the amount of 1000 to 4020 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens or corrective works for a period of up to two years, or restrictions or imprisonment for up to three years.

If such actions resulted in the death of people or large-scale damage to a person's property, responsibility will include imprisonment for a term of three to eight years.

Also, the law strengthens administrative responsibility for a knowingly false call to special services - the fire and rescue unit, the police, the ambulance brigade or other emergency rescue units (fines from 50 to 200 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens are provided for in the amount of three to seven tax-free minimums, which existed before); for failure to comply with the instructions of officials regarding fire and man-made safety (fines from 100 to 300 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens).

In addition, the head of state signed the interrelated Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses Regarding the Establishment of Liability for Obstructing Fire and Technological Safety Inspections" No. 1367-IX, which was adopted by the Parliament on March 30.

This document complements the previous one and establishes administrative responsibility for obstructing inspections on fire and man-made safety issues.

Thus, the creation of obstacles in the activities of authorized officials in the field of fire and man-made safety, connected with conducting inspections, will be punished by a fine in the amount of 100 to 300 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens.
