The Ministry of Digital Transformation stated that all the evidence points to the fact that Russia is behind the cyber attack on the state websites of Ukraine. This is reported on the official website of the department.
"Moscow continues to wage a hybrid war and is actively building up its forces in information and cyberspace. Most often, the cyber army of Russia works against the United States and Ukraine, trying to shake the political situation with the help of technology. The latest cyberattack is one of the manifestations of Russia's hybrid war against Ukraine, which has been ongoing since 2014," the message reads.
Its goal is not only to intimidate society, but to destabilize the situation in Ukraine, stop the work of the public sector and undermine the confidence of Ukrainians in the authorities.
"They can achieve this by throwing fakes into the information space about the vulnerability of critical information infrastructure and about the "plum" of personal data of Ukrainians," the Ministry of Digital Transformation said.
And they noted that the Diya state service does not store personal data of Ukrainians. All of them are placed in the corresponding registries, reliably protected. The application is only a "bridge" between information from state registers and the user.
For example, all medical information, in particular, data for generating COVID certificates, is placed in the Electronic Health System. Data on the registration number of the taxpayer's account card are stored in the register of the State Tax Service. And demographic data is in the Unified State Demographic Register.
Officials urged Ukrainians not to panic. All personal data are under reliable protection in state registers. And ads about the possibility to buy personal data are considered a scam: fraudsters sell old data compiled from many sources that were "merged" before 2019.
"The battlefield for the security and very existence of our state lies in several planes - military, diplomatic, historical, and now also digital. Therefore, Ukrainian cyber specialists will unite to resist the threat and neutralize the enemy," the Ministry of Digital Transformation emphasized.
