The Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language in Ukraine, Taras Kremin, stated on TV that after the verdict of the Constitutional Court, "the threat to the Ukrainian language is equivalent to a threat to the national security of Ukraine, the existence of the Ukrainian nation and its state, since the language is a peculiar code of the nation, and not only a way of communication."
Kremin appealed to the citizens: "Respect the Ukrainian constitution, the laws of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, who have fought for their independence for centuries and continue to fight in the east of Ukraine with the Russians."
"Therefore, whoever is not satisfied with the authorized, language law, the Ukrainian state, please formulate all this before your departure to other countries, where in your opinion you will feel at ease," Kremin said, calling Dr. Komarovsky's words about forced Ukrainization " marginal statements of a marginal host".
Before that, Yevgeny Komarovsky was outraged by the existence of "language norms" in Ukraine. In particular, he said that he does not understand why there is a language ombudsman in Ukraine who "calculates the percentage of words spoken."
"I swear, if I had been told 30 years ago that I would live in a country where there would be a language ombudsman, I would have left and taken my whole family with me. But we keep silent, and it kills us," says Komarovsky.
