The main reason for submitting to the Verkhovna Rada a proposal to relieve Maksym Stepanov from the position of Minister of Health is the unsatisfactory pace of vaccination of the population against the coronavirus.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on national health, medical care and medical insurance.
"The main reason for the presentation, of course, is the unsatisfactory rate of vaccination and delivery of vaccines, in fact the constant postponement of delivery dates and rates of vaccination."
According to the prime minister, weekly meetings on this issue were held at the presidential level, at which the head of the Ministry of Health made promises about the delivery dates of vaccines against the coronavirus, assured that there would be drugs and vaccinations.
"But we all see the pace, which indicates, accordingly, the unsatisfactory work of the Ministry of Health and the minister as a manager in the midst of the pandemic," the head of government said.
In addition, Shmyhal noted, it is impossible to ignore the position of the parliamentarians who gathered 150 votes for the parliament to consider the issue of the resignation of the Minister of Health.
Let us remind you that on May 14, the Verkhovna Rada received a proposal for the resignation of the Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov.
According to "Ukrainskaya Pravda", Stepanov was in the President's Office on May 14. There, Zelensky offered him to write a resignation letter of his own free will. Stepanov took time to think, but while he was thinking, the prime minister himself signed a motion for his dismissal.
The chairman of the parliamentary faction, David Arahamiya, also confirmed that the reason for the resignation of the Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov is the unsatisfactory rates of vaccination against the coronavirus.
To replace Stepanov, they are considering the candidacy of the acting state sanitary doctor Viktor Lyashko.
