In recent weeks, there has been an active information attack on the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the "Servant of the People" Andrey Klochko in the mass media and Telegram channels. The elected official is accused of corruption, and the topic is raised at the highest level. However, the situation is far from as simple as it might seem at first glance.
According to political scientist Andrey Zolotarev, the real reason for the attack on the deputy is related to the underground struggle for key committees of the Council, one of which is the Committee on the Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning, which is headed by Andrey Klochko.
The political scientist notes that it is the figure of Klochko who is now interfering with many large developers in Kyiv, as the bills being developed by the committee will allow the construction business in the capital to return to a civilized direction, and will "freeze" dozens of illegal constructions. Construction tycoons are recognized as the final customers of the massive investment in the mass media.
Klochko himself declared that he was not involved in the acquisition of real estate for his mother, so let's try to understand the situation and highlight the nuances that, for some reason, the investigators missed:
In February 2021, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPK) conducted a planned audit of the declarations of people's deputies and officials at the end of 2020. There were no questions regarding Klochko's declaration. As stated in public report of NAPK — "no signs of illegal enrichment have been established." Also, he has no questions from other anti-corruption bodies — NABU and SAP.
Of course, for many, the very fact of buying expensive real estate and a car by the family of a people's deputy looks suspicious - where did the money for a luxurious life come from? All publications are based on this statement, but the fact that the closest relatives of the people's deputy are wealthy people who own businesses and work in management positions in branches of international companies is ignored.
For example, Klochko's sister is a successful businesswoman, the owner of several dental clinics in Kyiv, and her husband is the CEO of a large Greek company. Before his entry into politics, the People's Deputy himself was also engaged in business for a long time and successfully, and his wife is still engaged in entrepreneurial activities. Last year alone, she declared income of more than 3,3 million hryvnias.
At the same time, in a new apartment in the residential complex "Riviera". purchased last year, it is not the deputy who lives there, but his mother and sister, who, apparently, bought this apartment for his mother. The deputy himself lives in Obolony, and the children go to an ordinary school in Kyiv.
Most likely, the goal of the attack on Klochko is to remove him from the post of head of the construction committee and replace him with a more compliant candidate. At the same time, it is not yet known whose side the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada will take and whether it will yield to the pressure of the developers.
