They want to build a cosmodrome near Odessa: the OGA approved the project

Previously, spaceports were not built in Ukraine.

The Conference of Regional Innovation and Space Clusters of Ukraine was held in Odessa, at which the regional innovation and space clusters "Prychernomorsky", "Polesye", "Slobozhanshchyna" and the Dnipro Space Cluster spoke about the advanced experience of the implementation of space technologies.

The event was attended by the chairman of the Odesa Regional State Administration Sergey Hrynevetskyi, deputy chairman of the Economic Policy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Sergey Taruta, first deputy chairman of the Odessa Regional Council Oleg Radkovsky, head of the National Center for Control and Testing of Space Means Vladimir Prysyazhny, president of the Council of the Scientific and Technological Cluster "Prychernomorsky", vice- the mayor of Odessa Pavel Vugelman, representatives of universities, state and commercial enterprises of Ukraine.

The head of the OGA, Sergey Hrynevetskyi, announced the possibility of creating a spaceport in the Odesa region. He noted that earlier the cosmodrome was not built in Ukraine, because our country is too densely populated, but today there is already such an opportunity.

"For the construction of the cosmodrome, certain requirements must be met - a large uninhabited territory is necessary: at least 500 km along the flight path, and no significant objects within a radius of 200 km. Today we found a territory on the shore of the Black Sea, on the border with the Nikolaev region, where it is possible to launch rockets with an inclination of 70-80 degrees in the direction of Turkey. But we need to come to an agreement with Turkey so that the second stage of the rocket can fly over them," Hrynevetskyi said.

In addition, the head of the National Space Management and Testing Center, Vladimir Prysyazhny, spoke about the opportunities that our country received from the work of the new Sich-2-30 satellite, launched on January 13.

"The satellite is intended for obtaining digital images of the Earth's surface in the visible and near-infrared wavelength ranges of electromagnetic waves with a resolution of 7 m (per pixel) when capturing a band of 36,5 km, monitoring the main parameters of neutral and charged particles of the ionosphere. We will be able to use the data from our satellite in a very broad field of research for agriculture, measuring the level of pollution and in many other areas of the country's life," he said.

During the conference, a cooperation agreement was signed between the participants of the All-Ukrainian Association of Innovation and Space Clusters and the Odesa Regional State Administration. In addition, the Action Plan of the Association of Innovative Space Clusters for 2022 was reviewed and approved at the event.
