The Canadian frigate HMCS Montreal went on a six-month campaign to perform tasks in the Black Sea. This was reported by the Royal Canadian Navy.
"The frigate Montreal sailed today with 240 sailors, officers and pilots on a 6-month overseas business trip as part of the Reassurance operation," the message said.
The ship left the naval base in Halifax (Atlantic province of Nova Scotia). Upon arrival in Europe, it will become part of the Second Permanent NATO Naval Group (SNMG2). The frigate will take part in the NATO Reassurance mission for the first time.
The warship is expected to strengthen Canada's military presence in Europe.
