Tariffs for the population may increase, people's deputies assure that the increase will not be high. People's deputies Andrii Gerus and Oleksiy Kucherenko said this on the air of the telethon.
To restore the energy system before the next heating season, more than $1 billion, or approximately UAH 40 billion, is needed, says Andriy Gerus, head of the energy committee of the Verkhovna Rada. Since Ukraine's energy system was damaged by Russian missile strikes. He emphasized that the option of increasing electricity tariffs for the population is currently being considered.
"What can happen to tariffs? In my opinion, for example, for those people who are richer: who have houses, who have electrically heated swimming pools. There you can definitely raise the tariffs and such wealthy people can pay more. It won't be a big problem for them," says Gerus.
The People's Deputy added that the tariff for electricity in Ukraine is still low (up to 250 kWh - 1,44 UAH, over 250 kW - 1,68 UAH), while for businesses - 5,5 UAH per kWh. That is why Andriy Gerus assumed the tariff increase, but promised that it would be insignificant.
Oleksiy Kucherenko, the first deputy chairman of the VRU committee on energy and housing and communal services, noted that the electricity bill in Ukraine is 3-4 times lower than in neighboring countries.
"Even if the hryvnia tariff increases, more than half of our population consumes up to 150 kWh. They will pay an additional 150 hryvnias per month. Well, let's put it this way: not fatal," he emphasized.
