Intel will end support for Blockscale chips designed for Bitcoin mining. This is reported by the publication The block.

The Blockscale line was introduced last April. Block Inc. became one of the first buyers of chips from Intel. and Argo Blockchain.

In recent months, the corporation has taken a number of cost-cutting measures, including cutting the salaries of top executives. In February, Intel representatives announced their intention to achieve annual savings of $3 billion to $10 billion for the period up to 2025.

Tom's Hardware reported that Intel has "end of life for the Intel Blockscale 1000 Series ASIC while we continue to support our Blockscale customers," according to a spokesperson for the tech giant.

When asked what the move meant for the future of Intel's bitcoin mining chip business, the spokesperson said, "We continue to monitor market opportunities."

"Intel Blockscale ASIC is set to play an important role in helping Bitcoin mining companies achieve stability and scalability of hashing speeds in the coming years." - said general manager of blockchain and business solutions in the accelerated computing and graphics group at Intel Jose Rios.

However, Intel's interest in Bitcoin mining goes back years, and despite the discontinuation of this particular product, Intel could theoretically revive its production in the future.

We will remind, in March, HIVE Blockchain Technologies completed the deployment of a batch of BuzzMiners ASIC miners on Intel chips in the amount of 5600 units.
