Aflatoxins, which are deadly to human health, were found in pistachios brought from Turkey to Ukraine. This was reported by the State Public Service "Gosprodpotrepsluzhby" in Lviv region.
The producer of roasted pistachios in the shell turned out to be the company Alagozler Gida Paz. San. Ve Tic Ith Ihr Turz. Ltd. Sti. Recipient of the goods "Trade", ul. Myra 3, Kyiv.
"The Main Administration of the Public Service in the Lviv Region received an information message from the Rapid Response System for Food and Feed (RASFF) dated December 23, 2021 regarding the detection of aflatoxins (B1 = 15,7; total amount = 19,9 μg/kg - ррb) in fried pistachios in the shell," the message says.
Market operators selling the above-mentioned pistachios must withdraw them from circulation, as well as inform the Main Administration in writing about the detected non-conformity within a period of no more than two working days.
Note that aflatoxins are organic compounds, deadly mycotoxins belonging to the class of polyketides. Aflatoxins are most often found in dried fruits and nuts. The most dangerous and widespread is aflatoxin B1, which was discovered in Turkish pistachios.
