Citizens elect the head of state from eight candidates: independent candidate Ihor Dodon, candidate from "Our Party" Renato Usatoy, candidate from "Shor" Party Violetta Ivanova, candidate from the Liberal Democratic Party Tudor Deliu, candidate from "Deystvie i Solidarnost" Party Maia Sandu , the candidate from the "Platforma Dostoinstvo i Pravda" Andrey Nastase, the candidate from the Unirea electoral block Dorin Kirtoake and the candidate from the Party of National Unity Octavian Tsyku.

A total of 2 sites have been opened in the country. Moldovan citizens living abroad can also vote. 4 sites were opened abroad.
