Israel has begun testing the coronavirus vaccine on volunteers

They will last at least six months

In Israel, on November 1, the first stage of clinical trials of the Israeli vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus on humans will begin at the Adasa Ein Kerem hospital in Jerusalem. He writes about it NEWSru.co.il.

The first subjects were a 26-year-old college student and a 34-year-old graduate student in immunology. They received the Brilife vaccine, developed by the Weizmann Institute for Biological Research, or a placebo.

Vaccine trials will last at least six months and will include several stages. A total of 80 volunteers aged 18 to 55, who have no health problems, will participate in the first stage: approximately one in three will receive the real vaccine, the rest will receive a placebo. Those who will be given the real vaccine will be included in the control group, which will decide on the effectiveness and safety of its use.

At the second stage, 960 volunteers over the age of 18 will receive the vaccine. It is expected that this phase will begin in December and will be held simultaneously in several hospitals. At this stage, scientists will look for an effective dosage of the vaccine and monitor its safety.

At the third stage, which is expected to begin in April, the vaccine will be tested on 30 volunteers. This is the last stage of testing, and if it is successfully completed, the vaccine can be approved for mass use.
