The Senate of the United States of America decided to re-examine the bill regarding the financing of aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, but without migration reform and border security. Voting will take place on Thursday, February 8. About this in Facebook Ukrainian Ambassador to the USA Oksana Markarova said.
The diplomat explained that American lawmakers by 58 votes to 41 supported the procedural decision needed to bring to a vote the question of ending the debate and "considering the essentially 'clean' bill on US international aid without migration reform introduced earlier today by Senator P.Murray." She added that 60 votes would be needed for this.
According to the ambassador, a previous bill with a "big package" that includes aid to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and border protection was "expectedly not supported" due to the lack of votes for an agreement on migration reform, on which negotiators "worked in recent months."
"That is why, even before the vote on the Great Package, the Appropriations Committee published the text of the "replacement" document, which provides exclusively for international aid to Ukraine ($60,06 billion), Israel and Taiwan." said Markarova.
The re-examination of the document, but without the migration reform, will take place today.
"The evening session closed, Majority Leader Schumer announced that he intends to put to a vote the question to end the debate on the US international aid bill, which includes Ukraine, Israel and the Indo-Pacific countries, at 12:19 noon Washington (00:8 p.m. Kyiv) on February XNUMX", — the ambassador noted.
