President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, on Thursday, February 8, informed on the dismissal of Valery Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
"I am grateful to General Zaluzhny for two years of protection. I am grateful for every victory we achieved together, and I thank all Ukrainian soldiers who are heroically carrying out this war." — the statement says.
According to him, they spoke frankly today about what needs to change in the army. The President suggested that General Zaluzhny continue to be part of the Ukrainian state team and added that he would be grateful for his agreement.
"From today, a new management team will take over the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I want the vision of the war to be the same for our soldiers in Robotyn or Avdiivka, and in the General Staff, and at Stavka. I had dozens of conversations with commanders at various levels. In particular, today I spoke with Brigadier Generals Andriy Hnatov, Mykhailo Drapaty, Igor Skibyuk, and Colonels Pavel Palisa and Vadym Sukharevskyi," — the president added.
