Security forces and equipment are being pulled into Minsk before the protests

Lukashenko's "people's ultimatum" expires today

Militia, internal troops and riot police are gathering in the center of Minsk, where another large-scale protest is expected today, October 25.

The mass media write that from the very morning, DPS vehicles began to block traffic on the streets adjacent to Nezazevizhosti Avenue, one of the central transport arteries of the city. Traffic on the avenue remains open for now. In the morning, a large convoy of security forces equipment was seen there: trucks for transporting personnel, trucks, water cannons, "Rubezh" barricade vehicles.

The three largest squares in Minsk — Pobedy, Oktyabrskaya and Nezazevizhnosti, which are popular gathering spots for protesters, are completely cordoned off. Security forces are on duty there, their vehicles are parked nearby, and fences are set up.

It is also known that 12 metro stations are closed in the capital of Belarus: "Lenin Square", "Oktyabrskaya", "Victory Square", "Yakub Kolas Square", "Akademiya Nauk", "Chelyuskintsev Park", "Pervomaiskaya", "Kupalovskaya", "Nemyga", "Frunzenskaya", "Molodezhnaya" and "Pushkinskaya". It is noted that trains at these stations proceed without stopping.

Let us remind you that the term of the "people's ultimatum", which the ex-candidate for the presidency of Belarus Svetlana Tykhanovskaya previously presented to the authorities of the republic, is expiring. She insists that if a number of opposition demands are not met by October 25, a strike will begin at all enterprises in the country. Among these demands are the resignation of President Alexander Lukashenko, the release of all political prisoners, and an end to violence on the streets.
