The largest city of New Zealand, Auckland, was closed for quarantine for the first time in six months from midnight on Sunday, February 14. The reason was the discovery of three new cases of coronavirus in the family of a woman who works in a company that does laundry for airlines.
The Prime Minister of the country, Jacinda Ardern, said this, reports "Voice of America" on Monday, February 15
Doctors are trying to understand how the woman could get infected, because she did not board planes.
"I ask the people of New Zealand to be strong and moderate in the future. I know that we feel the same way when this happens. We all have the feeling of "just not again." But remember, we've been through this before, and that means we know how to get out of it — and it's together," Ardern said.
It is worth noting that New Zealand was a successful example of containing the spread of the coronavirus. The country even restored large concerts and mass sports events, as well as removed mandatory safety requirements.
