The European Union plans to vaccinate everyone by the end of the summer.
This was reported by the European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton BFM TV.
"The goal is clear: to vaccinate everyone in the European Union who wants to do it by the end of the summer," Breton said.
In his opinion, in order to fulfill the task, the European Union needs more vaccines.
"We already have 3 authorized vaccines, 2 more will appear in the coming weeks. In less than an hour we will have five effective vaccines, this is a scientific feat. The problem is production, we must increase production," said Thierry Breton.
At the same time, according to the European Commissioner, there is no need to build new factories, because it takes five years.
"We have to start with the existing plants, of which there are about 10 in Europe and Switzerland," Breton said.
He also expressed the desire that Europe become the leading continent in the production of vaccines within 18 months.
