In Russia, they started collecting signatures against the war with Ukraine. The initiators and first signatories were well-known citizens of Russia from different fields of activity — scientists, human rights defenders, musicians, journalists, actors. The text of the statement "supporters of peace against the Party of War in the Russian leadership" published on Sunday, January 30, on the website of the Echo of Moscow radio station.
"Our position is extremely simple: Russia does not need a war with Ukraine and the West. No one threatens us, no one attacks us. Politics based on promoting the idea of such a war is immoral, irresponsible and criminal, and cannot be conducted on behalf of the people of Russia. We will do everything possible to prevent, and if necessary, stop the war," the text of the statement reads.
It is noted that "the war not only does not meet the interests of Russia, but also carries a threat to its very existence."
The statement was signed by: musician Andrey Makarevych, actress Liya Akhedzhakova, writer Viktor Shenderovych, human rights activists Lev Ponomarev, Svetlana Hannushkina, Zoya Svetova, directors Garry Bardin, Vladimir Mirzoev, politicians Grigory Yavlinsky, Lev Shlosberg, Boris Vyshnevsky and others.
