The key point is that in the future foreigners will be able to apply for a German passport after five years of residence in Germany instead of eight. In the case of "special integration achievements", naturalization will be possible after three years.

In the future, everyone wishing to obtain naturalization will have to explicitly recognize "the special historical responsibility of Germany for the unjust National Socialist regime and its consequences, in particular for the protection of Jewish life."
In addition, a reduction is provided for representatives of the so-called generation of wage earners. They no longer need to provide written proof of language proficiency at B1 level, which is still required. They also no longer require a written naturalization test.
