Ukrainian athletes Angelina Khmyl and Tatiana Lazarenko won the gold of the World Youth Beach Volleyball Championship for athletes under 21 years of age. The competition was held in Phuket, Thailand.
For 18-year-old Ukrainian athletes, this is the biggest victory in her career. Earlier, they won a bronze medal in the under-19 age category.
Ukrainian women performed in two age categories — U-19 and U-21. At the U-19 level, the duo won bronze, and in the U-21 category they managed to become the best.
Khmyl and Lazarenko reached the final, where they faced the Spaniards and managed to win with a score of 2:1.
It should be noted that previously women's teams from Ukraine did not win "gold" at the level of the U21 World Cup in beach volleyball. In 2011, only the men's team consisting of Sergey Popov and Valery Samoday managed to do this.
