Petro Poroshenko, the fifth president of Ukraine and MP from "European Solidarity" was suspected of high treason. This was stated at a briefing on December 20 by the head of the central headquarters of "European Solidarity" Alexander Turchynov.
"We are talking about providing Ukraine with coal in the conditions of the military confrontation in 2014-2015. The situation was very complicated, there was a military escalation. In these conditions, the then leadership of the country was able to ensure the country's energy security," explained Turchynov.
According to him, the suspicion was not signed by the general prosecutor Iryna Venediktova, but by her deputy, prosecutor Alexey Symonenko.
At the same time, the SBU disclosed the details of Poroshenko's treason case.
As it became known at the briefing of the Security Service, the SGB investigators in cooperation with the SBU investigators and under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General's Office are investigating criminal proceedings related to the criminal scheme of supplying coal from the temporarily occupied territories and assistance to the terrorist organizations "LNR" and "DNR" by a group of Ukrainian citizens.
The production is investigated according to Part 1 and Part 3 of Art. 258-5 (financing of terrorism), Part 1 of Art. 111 (treason) and Part 1 of Art. 258-3 (creation of a terrorist organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In September-November 2021, suspicions against one of the acting People's Deputies and former Minister of Energy Demchyshyn, who is also hiding abroad, were already reported in this case.
