"Evroterminal" LLC has begun construction of the access railway track to the Odesa-Peresyp station. The throughput capacity of the branch is up to 1 million tons per hour.
As of today, up to 20% of container cargo arrives at Odessa port by rail. The rest - by road transport. First of all, this is due to the inadequacy of the capacity of the railway tracks of the port and the Odesa-port station. Thus, the carrying capacity of the Odesa-port station is 792 wagons per day, while the port is capable of handling several times more wagons. This is especially felt during the peak loads on the railway — in spring and autumn, when grain is sent for export from the sea terminals of the port. This is explained by the fact that the port is squeezed by the city and it is practically impossible to develop the railway infrastructure.
—The railway line being built by "Euroterminal" will make it possible to handle a larger volume of containers, reduce the load on city streets from the movement of heavy goods vehicles and reduce the costs of shippers, forwarders and other participants in the transport process. In addition, the new railway will be an additional incentive for the development of logistics in both the "Dry Port" and the adjacent territory, — commented the general director of the Euroterminal company Alexander EYSMONT.
The new railway branch will enter the territory of the "Dry Port", which will allow processing and, if necessary, carrying out loading/unloading of cargo in containers. And they also process cargo according to various technological processes: warehouse wagon, container wagon, etc. According to the company's plans, all types of cargo will be processed through the newly constructed railway line: containers, bulk cargo, general cargo.
After the construction of the approach track is completed, Euroterminal will begin construction of a specialized station for processing containers and container trains, and a complex for the processing of grain and niche crops.
