The Prosecutor General signed a complaint against the mayor of Odessa

And also a number of city officials and a well-known Odessa resident

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Iryna Venediktova informed about the signing of the suspicion to the mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, a number of city officials and one well-known Odessa resident. She wrote about this on her Facebook page.

"I inform the public that I have signed five suspicions as part of the investigation of the criminal proceedings by NABU detectives and SAP prosecutors. This is a very important and indicative case, both for the Odesa region and for the country as a whole. "Odessa has never been a simple city and it is naive to believe that the affairs there are being investigated, so to speak, according to a template," Venediktova said.

And she added that the city mayor, a number of city officials, and one well-known Odessa resident, whose role was carefully studied by the investigation, were the suspects, so as not to make a mistake or miss anything.

"In my memory, it was almost the first time that the investigation managed to document the illegal activities of such motley people, from the mayor and ex-prosecutor of the region to a seemingly ordinary businessman, who skillfully dressed all these heroes in different clothes and "twisted" them as he wished. , just like at a performance in the theater of a young audience. We understand that only the court can call these people guilty, and today their status is suspects. The version presented above belongs to the investigative body and prosecutors, but we believe in these theses and will do everything possible to prove the truth in court," the Prosecutor General noted.

"According to our belief, all these people (it is absolutely possible that the number of suspects may increase) were involved in a whole series of criminal actions aimed at taking possession of land plots in Odessa. For some reason, the parties involved in the case called the actual possession of land a lease, forgetting that forging documents and using official powers to implement a criminal plan are criminal acts," she said.

In general, according to expert conclusions, losses to the city budget amounted to more than UAH 533 million. This amount may change by the time the investigation is completed and the case is brought to court, despite the existence of other important circumstances that are carefully processed by detectives and prosecutors.

"We have never doubted that such complex criminal mechanisms can work like clockwork only when someone had the audacity and, probably, the courage to build an absolutely clear hierarchical model, where everyone has their own role, their own function, to Competences are understood in detail, and on the throne is a leader who skillfully pulls the right strings at the right time. We are able to make such statements after analyzing a colossal array of data obtained during investigative actions: telephone conversations, data from computers, information legally obtained from electronic mailboxes, and much more. I believe that prosecutors will be able to present their position in court professionally and competently," wrote Venediktova.

"Let's hope that such performances will remain only on theater posters, and not in a city whose name every Ukrainian is proud of, not in a city whose name is known far beyond the borders of our country, not in a city that is rightfully considered a legend. But definitely not a bandit one," the Prosecutor General summed up.
