"Speed zoning" for electric scooters was approved in Odessa. This became known at a meeting of the executive committee of the Odessa City Hall.
As Artem Sydorenko, director of the city's Department of Transport, Communications and Traffic Management, said in an ElitExpert comment, according to the executive committee's decision, it will now be possible to ride electric scooters in park zones no faster than 12 km/h. We are talking about the following locations: Arkadiyskaya Alley, Horsad, Pobedy Arboretum, parks named after Shevchenko, Gorky, Cosmonauts, "Yunost", Preobrazhensky, Greek, Istanbul, Starosennoy, Starobazarny, named after Mechnikov, Primorsky boulevard and boulevard named after Zhvanetsky.
In other places, it will be possible to develop a speed of up to 20 km/h. The movement of electric scooters along the Health Route is now completely prohibited.
The operators themselves must ensure the implementation of the new norms. They will program their vehicle so that the restriction works automatically when entering a zone with a speed limit.
Also, the City Hall intends to regulate the issues of chaotic parking of such vehicles in the near future. In the future, officials plan to collect a tax from entrepreneurs for the use of sites under stations for electric scooters.
