On September 15, a contract was concluded for the implementation of preparatory work for the implementation of the project for the construction of a new airfield complex at the international airport "Dnepropetrovsk". This was reported by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
According to the Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Krykly, according to the contract, the preparatory work will start tomorrow. In addition, the private investor LLC NS Dnipro is starting construction of passenger and VIP terminals with a planned capacity of up to 1 people per hour.
A tender was also announced for the selection of a general contractor who will perform the main volume of work on the construction of the new airfield.
"The decision on the need to create a modern airport in Dnipro that meets all international standards was made back in 2013. However, last year, unfortunately, no real steps were taken in this direction. And we will correct this situation," said Kryklyi.
And he explained that, despite the high category of complexity of construction of such objects, the process of their design usually takes from 9 to 18 months. Therefore, in order to effectively plan and spend the funds allocated this year, it was decided to define the preparatory work as a separate project. Its cost will be about UAH 12 million.
"This will make it possible to carry out an important volume of work for the preparation of the infrastructure and ensure continuous operation of the airport during the construction of the new airfield complex," Krykly emphasized.
It should be noted that a 3,2 km long runway equipped with modern navigation systems, meteorological and light signaling equipment is planned to be built at the new airport with budget funds.
