The most popular professions among those entering vocational education institutions this year are driver, cook, electric gas welder, confectioner and hairdresser. This information was provided by the Ministry of Education and Science based on operational data from the regions.
"Since 2011, the five leaders in the ranking of the most popular professions have remained unchanged. And this is understandable, since professions in the service sector allow graduates who have only industrial experience behind them to open their own business and earn a high income," explained Deputy Minister of Education and Science Igor Harbaruk.
At the same time, narrow-branch professions or those that involve difficult working conditions are in less demand among young people.
Among the professions that are technologically complex and less popular among entrants are a machinist, pipelayer, food production controller, or hot metal rolling mill.
Note that each region has different dynamics of recruitment of applicants for these professions. For example, in the Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil regions, plasterer and hairdresser are among the most in-demand professions. And in the south - in Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions - applicants prefer to become agricultural tractor-machinist.
Among the factors affecting the demand for specific professions is the economic development of the region and local business.
