Ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that he will return to the country on January 17 on a flight from Warsaw, and advised the Ukrainian authorities not to scare him with his arrest. This was reported by the press service of the EU party on Wednesday, January 12.
"I advise Bankova not to spend money on illegal external surveillance and wiretapping - we will inform you about every step that brings us closer to home. I also do not advise the authorities to threaten me with arrest right at the airport. I'm coming back on January 17 at 09:00," Poroshenko's words are quoted in the message.
Meanwhile, Hetman's lawyer Igor Golovan said that on January 17, Poroshenko is awaiting arrest right at the airport. According to him, the Pechersk Court of Kyiv allowed to detain Poroshenko for the purpose of forced delivery to the court.
Let us remind you that the former Ukrainian leader is being investigated for possible involvement in treason, which the FBI announced on December 20. However, in the process of serving the suspicion, Poroshenko ignored the security forces and left. Then he left the country and went to Poland. The politician himself promised to return to the country at the beginning of 2022 and give "answers to all questions - both regarding treason and financing of terrorism."
