The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has significantly reduced the list of women's professions that are subject to military registration, the press service of the Ministry of Defense reported.
"The specified specialties and professions are related to about 100 military accounting specialties. Earlier, it was about 35 professional areas, which combined more than 200 specialties," said Anna Malyar, Deputy Head of the Defense Department.
In the new Decree, the number of professional referrals was reduced from 35 to 14, plus six professions, which made it possible to halve the number of military accounting specialties.
It is noted that the Ministry of Defense has developed a new version of the order on the military registration of women and sent it to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine for approval.
In particular, in the new order "On the approval of the list of specialties and/or professions related to the corresponding military accounting specialties, after obtaining which women are taken to the military register of conscripts, and the List of specialties and/or professions related to the corresponding military accounting specialties" 14 specialties and 6 professions are defined, the application and receipt of which requires registration in the military.
"The logic of the new option is as follows: with the help of military accounting, we must not only provide for the current needs of the army, but also take care of the development of the Armed Forces. In the order, we do not approve all the specialties that we may theoretically need someday, but only those that our military considers relevant in the foreseeable future. This made it possible to significantly reduce the list of specialties and professions requiring military registration of women at this stage. Accordingly, this will make it possible to calmly organize and ensure the registration of certain groups, analyze the results and move forward without fuss," said Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov.
These are mainly specialties and professions in the field of medicine, electronics, communications, metrology and cartography, finance, accounting and auditing, etc. The final list will be approved after it has been approved by other departments. The draft order also includes a mechanism for revising this list.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will have the opportunity, in case of necessity and urgent needs, to make changes to the list — perhaps some specialties will lose their relevance or some new ones will appear.
