In Ukraine, they want to increase fines for insulting a police officer

Insulting law enforcement officers will result in a fine, community service and arrest for up to 10 days.

Alexey Beloshitskyi, the First Deputy Chief of the Patrol Police Department, called on the deputies to return to consideration of the bill 5050-1, which proposes to introduce liability for public insult of a police officer.

  • for insulting a police officer or disobeying a legal requirement — from UAH 850 to UAH 1700;
  • for petty hooliganism — a fine from UAH 170 to UAH 510;
  • for public appeals to non-fulfillment of legal orders by law enforcement officers — a fine from UAH 510 to UAH 850.

Beloshitskyi also asks to increase the financing of the police, since there is already a catastrophic outflow of personnel.
