Not a single defeat: the Ukrainian men's chess team won the European Championship

The Ukrainian men's chess team won the European championship in Slovenia, ahead of the French in additional indicators. About this сообщается on the website of the Ukrainian Chess Federation.

In the final, ninth round, the Ukrainian team defeated the Armenian team with a score of 3:1 and became the winner of the tournament.

At the European Championship, the Ukrainian team did not lose a single match - five wins and four draws.

The seventh round of the championship was decisive for our team, where the Ukrainian national team met with the rating-favorite Russian national team. The Ukrainians won 2,5:1,5. The next day, the national team of Ukraine played a draw with the national team of Azerbaijan - 2:2.

As a result, the Ukrainian national team scored 14 points out of 18 possible, as did the French team, but according to an additional indicator, the Ukrainians were ahead of the French. The men's team of Poland finished in third place (13 points).

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also congratulated the guys.

"Congratulations to the men's national team of Ukraine on their victory at the European Team Championship in Slovenia! Not a single defeat in competitions with the strongest European teams, well-deserved first place and gold for our chess players. You are our pride and the real intelligence of the nation! Keep it up!” the head of state wrote on Twitter.

Anton Korobov, Andrey Volokytin, Yuriy Kuzubov, Kirill Shevchenko and Vladimir Onyshchuk performed for the Ukrainian national team.
